These exquisite drawings are by Pierre Joseph Redout, an artist born in Belgium in 1759 and who died in 1840 in Paris, France. He was known for painting the most delicate looking flowers and especially roses which are considered to be some of his finest work. He was so popular that the French Queen, Marie Antoinette asked him to be an artist in her cabinet.
